Brief description
The objective of the Exclusion, Immigration and Social Work Research Group (EXITS) is to carry out academic research and public reflexion on the questions of social exclusion and migrations to sociologically define the problems and opportunities presented as well as to study the solutions provided by Social Work.
EXITS thus embodies the existing reality of a team which has already carried out several research projects in this area (some in collaboration with the Migrations Institute) and which has been participated in a Spanish Government R&D project since 2006.
The group’s focus is on social exclusion and migrations, and it aims to carry out both basic and applied research in the latter’s complete lifecycle: social thought regarding the basic nature of these phenomena within the advanced modernity context, sociological research on the structures and dynamics in local and global contexts, studies on Social Work models and practices, and how to intervene in the problems and opportunities arising, as well as reflection on relevant social policies. Consequently, the research cycle implies social thought and social policies.
