ACM libraries collect over 26,000 euros for study hours in the Olympics for Solidarity Studies

11 December, 2015

This event is organised by the consortium formed by the three NGDOs, Coopera, Cooperació internacional and ACTEC. It is an innovative action to raise awareness and solidarity through youth’s and companies’ participation and engagement with cooperation development projects.

The Aristos Mundus Campus of International Excellence joined the Olympics for Solidarity Studies, a project which was held for the 13th time this year and enables students to exchange study hours for the equivalent in euros. These amounts are used to promote cooperation in Southern nations, improve living conditions for the underprivileged and build a fairer society for the future.

The result was 26,684.5 study hours (equivalent to the same amount in euros) and 4,069 participants at the ACM CIE libraries: Deusto, Comillas and Ramon Llull.

During the month that the Olympics lasted (5 November to 5 December), students used the rooms designated for this initiative and donated their study hours. For each hour spent studying, 1 € is delivered to sponsor cooperation development projects in Southern countries. The final aim of the Olympics is to raise awareness that lack of access to basic education and information are barriers to people’s future development.
