Results of the third ACM Social Responsibility Awards Call

Last January the ACM Campus of International Excellence held the 3rd ACM Good Practices in University Cooperation for Development Award Call; the Ignacio Ellacuría Awards for Social Interest Studies and the Good Practices in Social University Commitment Award Calls. 26 June 2015 was the submission deadline for entries for the three awards and in July, the juries met to evaluate, decide and announce the final results.

These awards are set within the ACM Campus of International Excellence project where Deusto, Comillas ICAI-ICADE and Ramon Llull have materialised their commitment to move forward in teaching and research quality and excellence. The purpose is to share experiences and processes they are carrying out.

 

Results of the ACM Good Practices in the Social University Commitment Award Call.

On 8 July, the jury met, formed by the following:  

-            Chairman: Dr. Javier Márquez (Comillas Pontifical University)

-            Secretary: Dr. Luz María Maceira Ochoa (University of Deusto)

-            Member: Juan Ignacio Pagola Carte (University of Deusto)

-            Member: Jaime Lombana (Comillas alumnus)

-            Member: Dr. José Sols Lucia (IQS- Ramon Llull University)

The call aims to acknowledge and disseminate students’ work which includes a social improvement perspective (in theory or practice).

 

In the sole category open for entries, the jury reached the following decision: “Actions completed or underway which boost social university commitment and can be considered good practices”; first prize went to project No. 4404245, entitled ICAI Learning and Service; which is a ground level-type project; Dissemination, awareness-raising or mobilisation; by Míriam Pons Matilla and Mariam Millán Hernández.

 

The second prize was left vacant.

 

Results of the ACM Good Practices in University Cooperation for Development Award Call

On 8 July, the jury met, formed by the following:

-            Chairperson: Ms. María Teresa Guzmán (Alboan NGDO, on the proposal of the University of Deusto)

-            Secretary: Dr. Joaquín Eguren (Comillas Pontifical University, University Institute of Studies on Migration)

-            Member: Dr. Isabel Pérez (Blanquerna Salut- Ramon Llull University);

-            Member: Dr. Albert Florensa (IQS-Ramon Llull University)

-            Member: Ricardo Navas (ICAI Foundation for Development, on the proposal of Comillas Pontifical University)

 

This call aims to acknowledge and disseminate students’ work that contributes to research and knowledge transfer in the field of University Development Cooperation. Proposals from different areas of knowledge (the humanities, social sciences, health sciences and technologies) were accepted.

 

The jury decided to award the following prizes in the two existing categories:

In the first category, “Bachelor’s degree projects”, the first prize went to “How to implement Learning Communities at the Za’atari (Jordan) Refugee Camp” by Almudena Rodríguez Garrido.

The second prize was left vacant.

The project “AGROBENIN Business Plan” by Patricia Pareja Rodríguez-Borlado received a special mention.

In the second category “Postgraduate projects”, the first prize went to “Policy Coherence for Development. Analysis of its integration in the Congress of Deputies debate by Miriam Segovia Moreno.

No second prize was awarded.

 

Results of the ACM Ignacio Ellacuría Awards for Social Interest Studies

The jury met on 8 and 20 July, formed by the following:

-            Chairman: Óscar Mateos (Pere Tarrés –  Ramon Llull University)

-            Secretary: Dr. Cristina de la Cruz (University of Deusto, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences)

-            Member: Miguel González (Ignacio Ellacuría Foundation, on proposal of the University of Deusto)

-            Member: Dr. Irene Claro (Comillas Pontifical University, Law Faculty)

-            Member:  Jaime Pons (EAPN Madrid, on proposal of Comillas Pontifical University)

 

The call aims to acknowledge and disseminate students’ work which includes a social improvement perspective (in theory or practice). Two award categories were open for entries and the jury’s decision was as follows:

In the first category, “Bachelor’s degree projects”, the first prize went to “The interpretation service for victims of gender violence in Madrid” by Patricia García García and Andrea Schäpers.

The second prize was awarded to the project “Conditional cash transfers and improvement of social indicators. An analysis of two Latin American cases” by Alexia Delclaux Gaytán de Ayala.

The jury awarded two special mentions to the following projects: Autismo Espektro Nahastea Lehen Hezkuntzako Eskola Inklusiboan. Ingeleseko irakasgaian erantzuteko proposamen didaktikoa; by Ainhoa Gabika Unamuno and Marta García Setién; and the project “Written press and interculturality: an analysis based on the Charlie Hebdo attacks, by Garazi Alkorta Uzkudun.

In the second category, “Postgraduate projects”, the first prize was awarded to “Care, a group response to the housing problem” by María Monjas Carro. The second prize was left vacant.
