Publication of the conclusions of the UNIJES 2012 conference: “Retos del Derecho ante una economía sin fronteras“. One of the key characteristics of the fast-paced globalisation process we are undergoing is the progressive dismantling of barriers to economic activity. In addition to the crisis of a nation-state that is overwhelmed by the growing autonomy of the economy, there is also the inability of Law to properly regulate global governance. We are witnessing a process in which the role of the State is prone to undergoing a major transformation but, on the other hand, there is still no sign of global institutional spaces that have the capacity to deal with those problems. Faced with the challenges posed by all these significant trends at an economic and political level, which ultimately even affect key aspects of individuals’ legal status, it is essential to address their implications for the different branches of Law.
